Downtown Development Authority

Description

Downtown Development Authorities (DDAs) are quasi-governmental entities that provide both organization and financing for downtown revitalization efforts, including place enhancements, marketing and promotion, economic development, and public improvements that focus on the city center’s vitality and attractiveness. DDAs facilitate partnerships, joining businesses, property owners, civic partners, and local government to create a self-sustaining organization designed to champion downtown for the long term. Property owners, business owners, tenants and residents within the proposed DDA area must vote on the DDA’s creation and financial authority. Downtown Development Authorities are subject to Colorado Revised Statutes Section 31-25-801 (see CRS 31-25-801).

The DDA Board is expected to meet monthly at a time and location selected by the Board (initial meetings will likely be online).
